IRON - Sex Positive Hardcore

"Is this the current state of the Hardcore scene?" If this is spoken about IRON, then I say "I sure as fuck hope so."

IRON comes straight (or Gay?) at you with one of the most voracious punch to the cock that I've ever heard. Being told to give them a listen was probably one of the best things to happen to me in 2013, and I'm not joking.

Hailing from Malmö, Sweden IRON takes a fast, raw Hardcore/Punk sound and mix it with strong  lyrical content about stances on Veganism, Straight Edge, Sex Positivity, Gender Equality, Hardcore Pride and Anit-Capitalism. So, pretty much they fucking rule in every way possible. Everything about this band screams "FUCKING HARDCORE RULES IN SO MANY WAYS".

I really don't know what to say other then this is by far my favorite release in 2013, not just demo or Hardcore, in general. I wanted my last post of the year to be something amazing and I think this does just fine.

Brother's Keeper - Five Hits From Hell

It's Halloween tomorrow and their is no way I can not post a Halloween treat!

Once again, this is a cover CD of classics songs by the ghoul gods themselves, Misfits. But this time, it's more of Hardcore take done right by Eire's powerhouse Brother's Keeper, who keep it creepy but keep it "Core" with these set of covers.

Most might not be a fan of BK, but hopefully that doesn't turn you away from checking out these covers that were done SOOO right.

Mad World - The Outsiders

Ohio has been a hot bed of rad bands for the past few years. I don't know for sure, but my heart might be in Ohio...I mean it is for lovers and stuff, right? Well, in any case it seems they continue with Mad World.

Bringing ten bangers for all to hear, Mad World's The Outsiders bring that early 2000's sound that i'm ever so in love with. Sounding like a mix of Set It Straight, With Honor and Ten Yard Fight, The Outsiders does not have one sour note in the 20 or so minutes it plays.

Movie samples, gang vocals, good double pedal work, short fast and aggressive songs and there are eleven songs!!

Although what Mad World plays isn't anything new, it is very refreshing to hear a band that I can say sounds something  like a band i would of seen in the early 00's without it being a band who tries to rip off With Honor's This Is Our Revenge in the worse possible way. Stop trying to sound like Defeater new bands, you keep doing it wrong aways.

The Facebook says that Mad World should be throwing out some new songs early next year, so best believe Part Two of "How Awesome is Mad World?!" is coming your way. Support this band band lets hope they get to tour on the West Coast, then the WORLD!...the Mad World that is, ;D

Chain Reaction

I came across Chain Reaction by accident. I seen they were a Straight Edge band from Örebro, Sweden and I thought what's the harm in seeing what they are all about. Pretty much right away I loved what I was hearing.

Comprised of dudes who have been apart of the scene for years and still wanting to play and spread the love that Hardcore has instilled inside them makes you really pay attention to a band, at least for me.

At first listen, I heard a True Colors sound/vibe. And seeing as TxC made one of the the best Hardcore songs of all time (Consider It Done), I pretty much was on borad with whatever this band wanted to throw at me.

I really don't know much about this band, and I don't know how much they play or if they will record anytime soon, but I can assure you that these ten songs will make you wanting more from these guys.

I put up the only music I can find, their Self Titled EP and their side of the Split with Hârda Bud, but I really hope that more music awaits up in the very near future

No Thanks - Demo 2013

Sometimes you come across random crap on the internet and you might be all like, "da fuck..?" But sometimes you come across awesome Youth Crew Hardcore bands and are like, "I can fucks with this."

That's No Thanks (or No X Thanks, idk) hailing from Oklahoma! No Thanks gives you late 90's/early 00's sounding Youth Crew in the vain of Committed, In My Eyes, Champion, etc. BUT also, I do get a little Warzone in there...idk why, but i'm pretty sure thats awesome.

I don't know much about this band, but if these six songs are any indication of what the band is about, then you can count on me being here awaiting for the new stuff!

Wrong Idea - What's Left Inside

"The feeling inside, it's something I can't explain. A place to belong, something to wear with pride. You'll never know, and thats okay, what this is to me, something i'll never hide."

Words that ring so true to I. Words that I whole heartily believe in. Words that some might say are generic and corny, but to that I say YOU GOT THE WRONG IDEA. 

Tucson's own Youth Crew revivals Wrong Idea decided to head back into the studio to rework and re-release their EP from last year. Some might say that's a lazy way to go about putting out "new music", and I could say while in the studio with Taylor Young (of Nails, Twitching Tongues fame) they knocked out two new jams...but instead I'll let the music speak for itself. 

Hearing these songs from their beginning stage up till present day is a bit of a trip, but I mean it in the best possible way ever. I can assure you, that these songs capture exactly how Wrong Idea play live and how (even if it's little) they are changed into what you hear today. 

When i first heard those finished drums with a scratch guitar over it, I was completely floored at what I was hearing. At the end of it, I knew that these recordings where nothing less then perfect. I know it's easy to talk up your friends and all that that do, but lets just put it out there that I had the rough mixes the day after we got back from recording AND up till they released the EP, I constantly listened to it.  The only thing that has changed is now i'm listening to the finished version. That's how amazing I think of this EP. That's how much I love these tracks. 

I can't say where Wrong Idea is going from hear on, but I'd like to think that even five, ten or fifty years from now I can look back at this album and just say, "GOD DAMMIT, this is still golden." I can say though that being apart of this album is one of the best experiences I've had and it's truly a time i'll remember and cherish.

True Love - A Floral Note

It's been too long, but finding time here and there to do things is my new goal. So I come back with probably one of my favorite demo's of this year.

True Love from good 'ol state of Michigan bring some of the most solid Hardcore tracks i've heard in the past few years. Sounding like demo's that American Nightmare didn't use when recording "Background Music", True Love put out very fast and aggressive music with very poetic lyrics to tie it all together in a astonishing output.

When first coming in contact with the band and seeing the name True Love along with the artwork and title "A Floral Note," I was set to write them off thinking it was another shitty Metalcore/Screamo/"Melodic Hardcore" type of bands that sound like shit covered in shit but...dammit do i feel like a dumb ass. Truly never judge a book by a cover. AND mad props to True Love for not doing something a bit different with the art work.

As if sounding like they grabbed a bunch of Hardcore records from the early 2000's wasn't enough, the fact that this EP clocks in around the five and half minutes makes it so much more sweet. So short, but so sweet, and plays through amazingly to the point where I almost don't want to put in on shuffle at all.

At times it's hard to really push a new band to anyone, especially in Hardcore or Punk, but I think "A Floral Note" is a easy push, and one that needs to be done. If this is just the beginning for the band, then I can not wait to see what else comes out of these dudes.
