"Is this the current state of the Hardcore scene?" If this is spoken about IRON, then I say "I sure as fuck hope so."
IRON comes straight (or Gay?) at you with one of the most voracious punch to the cock that I've ever heard. Being told to give them a listen was probably one of the best things to happen to me in 2013, and I'm not joking.
Hailing from Malmö, Sweden IRON takes a fast, raw Hardcore/Punk sound and mix it with strong lyrical content about stances on Veganism, Straight Edge, Sex Positivity, Gender Equality, Hardcore Pride and Anit-Capitalism. So, pretty much they fucking rule in every way possible. Everything about this band screams "FUCKING HARDCORE RULES IN SO MANY WAYS".
I really don't know what to say other then this is by far my favorite release in 2013, not just demo or Hardcore, in general. I wanted my last post of the year to be something amazing and I think this does just fine.
PLEASE download and thank me later.
Just an FYI, this is their Demo which later (same recordings) released at Sex Positive Hardcore 7" with a bonus song, 'Quick Fix' which I did throw in there.

Brother's Keeper - Five Hits From Hell
It's Halloween tomorrow and their is no way I can not post a Halloween treat!
Once again, this is a cover CD of classics songs by the ghoul gods themselves, Misfits. But this time, it's more of Hardcore take done right by Eire's powerhouse Brother's Keeper, who keep it creepy but keep it "Core" with these set of covers.
Most might not be a fan of BK, but hopefully that doesn't turn you away from checking out these covers that were done SOOO right.
Besides, what's Halloween without some good music??

Mad World - The Outsiders
Ohio has been a hot bed of rad bands for the past few years. I don't know for sure, but my heart might be in Ohio...I mean it is for lovers and stuff, right? Well, in any case it seems they continue with Mad World.
Bringing ten bangers for all to hear, Mad World's The Outsiders bring that early 2000's sound that i'm ever so in love with. Sounding like a mix of Set It Straight, With Honor and Ten Yard Fight, The Outsiders does not have one sour note in the 20 or so minutes it plays.
Movie samples, gang vocals, good double pedal work, short fast and aggressive songs and there are eleven songs!!
Although what Mad World plays isn't anything new, it is very refreshing to hear a band that I can say sounds something like a band i would of seen in the early 00's without it being a band who tries to rip off With Honor's This Is Our Revenge in the worse possible way. Stop trying to sound like Defeater new bands, you keep doing it wrong aways.
The Facebook says that Mad World should be throwing out some new songs early next year, so best believe Part Two of "How Awesome is Mad World?!" is coming your way. Support this band band lets hope they get to tour on the West Coast, then the WORLD!...the Mad World that is, ;D

Chain Reaction
I came across Chain Reaction by accident. I seen they were a Straight Edge band from Örebro, Sweden and I thought what's the harm in seeing what they are all about. Pretty much right away I loved what I was hearing.
Comprised of dudes who have been apart of the scene for years and still wanting to play and spread the love that Hardcore has instilled inside them makes you really pay attention to a band, at least for me.
At first listen, I heard a True Colors sound/vibe. And seeing as TxC made one of the the best Hardcore songs of all time (Consider It Done), I pretty much was on borad with whatever this band wanted to throw at me.
I really don't know much about this band, and I don't know how much they play or if they will record anytime soon, but I can assure you that these ten songs will make you wanting more from these guys.
I put up the only music I can find, their Self Titled EP and their side of the Split with Hârda Bud, but I really hope that more music awaits up in the very near future
"A chain reaction,
I made this choice with no doubt,
Eternal youth,
Hardcore,
that's what i'm talking about."

No Thanks - Demo 2013
Sometimes you come across random crap on the internet and you might be all like, "da fuck..?" But sometimes you come across awesome Youth Crew Hardcore bands and are like, "I can fucks with this."
That's No Thanks (or No X Thanks, idk) hailing from Oklahoma! No Thanks gives you late 90's/early 00's sounding Youth Crew in the vain of Committed, In My Eyes, Champion, etc. BUT also, I do get a little Warzone in there...idk why, but i'm pretty sure thats awesome.
I don't know much about this band, but if these six songs are any indication of what the band is about, then you can count on me being here awaiting for the new stuff!

Wrong Idea - What's Left Inside
"The feeling inside, it's something I can't explain. A place to belong, something to wear with pride. You'll never know, and thats okay, what this is to me, something i'll never hide."
Words that ring so true to I. Words that I whole heartily believe in. Words that some might say are generic and corny, but to that I say YOU GOT THE WRONG IDEA.
Tucson's own Youth Crew revivals Wrong Idea decided to head back into the studio to rework and re-release their EP from last year. Some might say that's a lazy way to go about putting out "new music", and I could say while in the studio with Taylor Young (of Nails, Twitching Tongues fame) they knocked out two new jams...but instead I'll let the music speak for itself.
Hearing these songs from their beginning stage up till present day is a bit of a trip, but I mean it in the best possible way ever. I can assure you, that these songs capture exactly how Wrong Idea play live and how (even if it's little) they are changed into what you hear today.
When i first heard those finished drums with a scratch guitar over it, I was completely floored at what I was hearing. At the end of it, I knew that these recordings where nothing less then perfect. I know it's easy to talk up your friends and all that that do, but lets just put it out there that I had the rough mixes the day after we got back from recording AND up till they released the EP, I constantly listened to it. The only thing that has changed is now i'm listening to the finished version. That's how amazing I think of this EP. That's how much I love these tracks.
I can't say where Wrong Idea is going from hear on, but I'd like to think that even five, ten or fifty years from now I can look back at this album and just say, "GOD DAMMIT, this is still golden." I can say though that being apart of this album is one of the best experiences I've had and it's truly a time i'll remember and cherish.

True Love - A Floral Note
It's been too long, but finding time here and there to do things is my new goal. So I come back with probably one of my favorite demo's of this year.
True Love from good 'ol state of Michigan bring some of the most solid Hardcore tracks i've heard in the past few years. Sounding like demo's that American Nightmare didn't use when recording "Background Music", True Love put out very fast and aggressive music with very poetic lyrics to tie it all together in a astonishing output.
When first coming in contact with the band and seeing the name True Love along with the artwork and title "A Floral Note," I was set to write them off thinking it was another shitty Metalcore/Screamo/"Melodic Hardcore" type of bands that sound like shit covered in shit but...dammit do i feel like a dumb ass. Truly never judge a book by a cover. AND mad props to True Love for not doing something a bit different with the art work.
As if sounding like they grabbed a bunch of Hardcore records from the early 2000's wasn't enough, the fact that this EP clocks in around the five and half minutes makes it so much more sweet. So short, but so sweet, and plays through amazingly to the point where I almost don't want to put in on shuffle at all.
At times it's hard to really push a new band to anyone, especially in Hardcore or Punk, but I think "A Floral Note" is a easy push, and one that needs to be done. If this is just the beginning for the band, then I can not wait to see what else comes out of these dudes.

Get The Most - Core Values Demo
Get The Most was a Youth Crew band from the Northwest. Started from Go It Alone and Blue Monday members, Get The Most quickly got in top with the release of this, Core Vales Demo.
My favorite thing about this demo, is that even though it is more typical Youth Crew hardcore, it ever gets played out? If that makes any sense. I mean, I'm here, 8 years later, and I can listen to it as if I just got it. Even though every release was just as solid as the next, something always bring me back to this demo. Could be maybe because I found it when I became more active in the Hardcore scene? Maybe its because it's a release that help me find friends who weren't all into Beatdown or Metalcore stuff. Or maybe it's because it's the Insted cover? Honestly, it doesn't matter, a solid release is a solid release and Get The Most have one of the most solid releases in the past 10 years of hardcore.

Collateral Damage Self Titled EP
I FINALLY GET TO POST THIS! After trying get my old computer working, and failing at it, I came across a few DVD's...I guess the younger me was smarter than I thought, because I backed up a few music files into DVD's. So do expect a few more gems I found.
Collateral Damage was never the biggest Hardcore band or most known, but with releases on Indecision Records and New Age Records, I would think they were a little more known. But none of that really matters, because in the end C.D. wrote and records some amazing records.
I came across this record by accident, not knowing who they were or what they sounded like but when i seen they were on Indecision, I thought it couldn't be that bad...and damn was I right.
At first listen, I thought it was another Dan O'Mahony project, seeing at they had similar vocal stylings, but that wasn't the case. But that was one of the reasons that drew me into the band. Four songs, clocking in just under 12 minutes, made for perfect record listening.
I really don't know what to say about this record really, I kind of hope you just fallin love with it like i have. This isn't the only release, they did have another EP after this, but seeing as I still can't find that, you're going to have to stick with this for a while. But I really do hope you enjoy this and if you like this, order the "Let Me Be Broken" EP on New Age Records...haha I know, but I heard ordering got a little better.

Final Fight Demo 2003
Final Fight was probably one of the best bands to come out off the mid 2000's. Their music added with in great stage presents made them one of the most solid acts in Hardcore.
As I look back on those days they were active, I see myself as one of the lucky ones who got to see them live. When you seen Dave hit the stage barefoot, you know you were about to get a show.
Everyone once and awhile Final Fight comes up on my iPod, and my realization of them not being a band hits me again and I miss them dearly. So that leaves me with this post, the original Demo CD-R.
I've seen other people most the "Demo", but really they are just posting the Self Titled 7" and like a song or two of this demo.
When I first heard this, I was taking away. The music didn't sound like a shitty demo, and the vocals always caught me and pulled me in. Not only my favorite FF release, but one of my fav demos of all time.
The best part of this demo, is it showcases exactly what the band was about to offer. Give it a listen, share it around, maybe Hype can be put back on the band and they'll do a reunion. If Judge can do it, so can Final Fight.

Nazi Dust Discography
Bonus post! I originally up loaded this for my friend, then I thought why not share with everyone?
This, to my knowledge, is Nazi Dust's Discography...so far. Based out of Florida, Nazi Dust keep the Powerviolence alive and well in the great Orange State...or Sunshine state? Whatever. Enjoy!

Breakdown - Plus/Minus
I figured why since I don’t post as much as I want, why not
give something awesome to make up for it?!
Breakdown is probably one of the most solid Hardcore bands I’ve
ever heard. Even going back to the beginning, the songs always had something
that stood out for me.
I could of took the easy way out and uploaded Blacklisted,
but then I thought, why not post
something most people forget…Plus/Minus. For some reason, people stop
listening to Breakdown after the Blacklisted EP…I don’t know why, but
Plus/Minus always felt exactly the same…only longer. Maybe it’s because it’s a
full length, or maybe because older songs where rerecorded? I’ll never
understand when asking people if they liked P/M more so than Blacklisted, they respond,
“Oh I’ve never actually listen to it.”
And yes, it’s obviously happen on many occasions to where I’ve
actually had to post about it on my blog -_-
Any who, download this amazing record. I mean, seriously,
how well-crafted is “Megalomaniac” for the first track of an album?! So unreal. ENJOY!

xFILESx - Split/Self Defense
With such an awesome name as xFILESx, how does one not automatically listen to them?!
Fairly short lived band, xFILESx bring the heavy and pick up the speed to deliver short, fast, pissed and funny? to Hardcore Punks all around the world.
This 7" has been going through my head lately, so might as well make you suffer (or is it heaven?) as well.
Enjoy!

Step Aside - "In Search of Something More" Trailer
Over the past few weeks I'm been pretty busy, mostly with work and film related stuff. I had an amazing opportunity to hit the road with my buds in Step Aside/Wrong Idea for the weekend Mindset California tour.
It was beyond anything I could of expected. Hanging with friends as they trekked through Cali, while meeting a few new friends, was something I never thought I'd get the chance to actually do. I can't thank everyone who made that trip possible, it was something I will NEVER forget.
But when I was there, my buddy (Dom; film maker partner) and I filmed an extensieve part of the trip. From the Tour Kick Off show in Tucson, to the last day at Chè Cafè, we documented everything we could of.
Now, two weeks later, I'm getting ready to go through all the footage we captured and make something for all to see.
Step Aside - "In Search of Something More" will be a full documentary on the past, present and future of the band. As well as a look into the Mindset tour, and more. It might take a while, but the doc. is in full swing.
Please take a look at this trailer I made, just for a glimpse of what's to come. Hopefully you'll be as stoked as I am putting it together.

108 - Threefold Misery
Bringing religion into Punk/Hardcore has always been looked
at, weirdly. Both bad and good has come from bands who have put their personal
faith into their music. At times, the idea of “Faith” being sang has come off
as pushy and unwanted. But there are a few bands who can whole heartily put
their love for Hardcore and their faith into songs, and make it a masterpiece.
One, obviously is the all mighty “krishnacore” band 108.
Threefold Misery
is an album that showcases how one band can mix religion and breakdowns in such
a manner, that I get goosebumps for every songs. I always thought Threefold Misery was the big “BANG”
before they disbanded. Almost like a, “Hey this is what you’re gonna be missing
now we aren’t a band.” type of thing. Luckily, the band has got back together
and plays here and there, which makes my dream of seeing them live more than
possible. I’ll just leave their link here, so you can discover how amazing this
album is.

Development - Winter's EP
Pop Punk; a genre that can get a whole lot of mix feelings
from many people. Seems likes within the last few years, it has taking on a
whole new life. Not to say you have to like it or even agree about it, but when
kids start to wear “Pop Punk saved my life” on social media outlets or wearing “Pop
Punk Isn’t Dead” Shirts (even though I don’t remember anyone really saying it’s
dead), the genre has expanded to be a whole life of its own. And with their journey
just started, Development is on the
right path to bring pride and hopefully a new life into the scene.
Hailing from my home state of Arizona, Development brings a sound not always heard from a “Pop Punk” band.
The “Winter’s EP” sounds more like an
unreleased Title Fight material, rather
than a Wonder Years exact rip off
band. With smooth and solid sounding instrumentals backing a rough and raspy vocal
delivery, Development has already
moved for away from their peers of the same genre.
If you’re a fan of later Title Fight, Crime In Stereo
and Make Do and Mend, then Development’s “Winter’s EP” is the album you’re looking for. I mean, with a total
play time of just over ten minutes, how is checking out this EP a band thing??

Strain Seven Inches
Last year, Rain Fest decided to rule hard, and add a band
that came out of nowhere. They somehow got one of the best bands to reunite. A
band that came into my life by discovering any/all bands on New Age Records.
Sad to say I didn't make it, and when I think back, I probably should of just
gone for broke and heading up so I could of seen the all mighty Strain play one
last time...but let's hope it's not the last time.
Bummed me out pretty hard when I got word from Alex (Code X
Red) that the crowed was super lame and did not, nay, could not appreciate the
true excellence of Strain. But, seeing
at I tend to find and/or discover bands that absolutely no one gives a shit
about, that couldn’t ruin my respect and admiration for this band. I may hold
them up to a higher merit than other bands in the era, but remembering being a
dumb teenager, seeing that New Age Records stamp and putting Here and Now on for the first time…It
just reminds me the love I have for this “scene”. That feeling I got, and still
get, when I take a chance on a random band, all in hopes that I won’t take out
the CD and be completely disappointed. Strain, other than being such a solid
band, really reminds me of the love I have for all of this, whatever it might
be.
Strain is the exact sound and feel of 90’s Hardcore. Being
one of the best and heaviest bands from the Northwest, Strain’s discography is
one of the best I’ve had heard in all existence. Sure, you can say a lot of
songs where reused for variously releases, but that does not take away from the
actually music being made. They only where around from early to mid/later 90’s,
but that short time as an active band, gave us so much good to listen to. I decided
to upload a collection of seven inches. I think it’s all they release, maybe
minus a bootleg, but it’s a great way to discover a band and I have such found memoires
of. Now, all of these songs have been re-released onto CD Compilations, so If
you want physical copies I’m sure your wish can come true. Enjoy!

Jukai Self-Titled
Seems like every couple of weeks I always find a new band or
demo that I jock hard. Most of the time it’s too good not to listen to. At
times it’s something that, maybe not at first listen caught my attention but
after a few listens, really digs into my brain and stays there. Then there are demos
so good that they become somewhat, timeless and even when new music is released
by the band, I will good back to the demo and keep it, along with the new
songs, on constant rotation. I believe I have found that with Long Island’s own
Jukai.
From first listen, I didn’t and couldn’t stop it. From start
to finish, the self-titled release had caught me in a somewhat, Metalcore mayhem
trance. From the Intro, all the way up to the last “I'm a failure!”, this album delivers. And trust me, it delivers
hard.
Capturing that nighties style of Heavy Hardcore so well, Jukai bring together a collective of
songs that will make you cringe from the sheer power of the music. With vocals
that shatter your ears, and lyrics that cut through your brain, you best
believe that Jukai will surely make
their mark on your life after listening.
I honestly don’t know much about this band, or even if they
are looking into writing new music anytime soon. But I can assure you that this
demo will hold you off till then.
